About Weaving Winds

The Art

"Where beauty and functionality collide."  All of Kristen's baskets are one of a kind and are built around antler sheds and driftwood collected from the Wind River and Wyoming Ranges in Western Wyoming. Each piece uses the antler or driftwood as the structure of the basket. She drills holes directly into the shed and driftwood, incorporating the ribs into them. By combining this technique with the more traditional weaving in of the round reeds, she is able to get a stronger sense of movement and fluidity into the baskets. The weaving materials used are hand dyed rattan reeds, seagrass, and leather.

Her family enjoys special days out in nature collecting the beautiful bases. .
